We're empowering Indigenous youth to lead in the future of tech with essential career-ready digital skills. You can help co-create bright digital futures by sharing your voice today.
The First Nations Technology Council is shaping the future of digital skills training and career support for Indigenous youth across British Columbia. Your insights will help us create programs that reflect the needs and priorities of indigenous youth today — and for generations to come.
We’re listening to Indigenous youth to shape the Indigenous Leadership in Technology (ILIT) Strategy. The Strategy is a three-year action plan to modernize and expand our digital skills training and career services for Indigenous youth aged 18-35 across BC. Working with the Information and Communications Technology Council and Engage Delaney, we are gathering perspectives from Indigenous people across BC — both on and off-reserve — to redesign our programming from the ground up.
This project will directly inform the creation of new training pathways, upgraded courses (including AI and other emerging technologies), and expanded career support. More than just programs, it’s about equipping Indigenous Peoples with the skills they need to thrive in the digital age.
As part of the strategy’s implementation, we will deliver tailored, in-community training programs that are co-designed with communities and grounded in their unique goals. These offerings will reflect the voices of youth, address local employment needs, and leverage digital skills to support community priorities and self-determination.
The Indigenous Leadership in Technology (ILIT) Strategy is your opportunity to shape the future of digital skills training and career support for Indigenous youth in BC. Whether you’re a tech expert or just curious, there’s a place for your voice. We want to learn:
Your voice matters. Help us create training programs that open doors to meaningful careers in technology and tech-enabled sectors. There are three ways you can get involved:
No tech experience is needed — just your perspective and ideas!
We are gathering feedback between April and September 2025. Once engagement concludes, we will draft the ILIT Strategy, guided by your input. We will share back what we heard to every engagement participant and a summary on our webpage. Join the conversation. Help build a future where Indigenous Peoples thrive in the digital age.
