Community-grounded research that listens first, learns together, and leads to practical action for First Nations across BC.
The First Nations Technology Council supports First Nations in British Columbia by listening carefully, learning together, and turning shared knowledge into practical action.
Our research is grounded in place, relationship, and responsibility. We work alongside Nations to understand what's happening on the ground, document real experiences, and support decisions that strengthen self-determination and community well-being. We research to help communities plan, advocate, build, and move forward.
Our research starts with listening. We spend time with communities, technologists, leaders, and learners to understand what's actually happening on the ground. We connect stories with data. We look at systems like funding, policy, and infrastructure, and how they show up in everyday life.
Our work is community-led, participatory, and culturally grounded. We respect OCAP® and treat data as a living relationship, not a resource to extract.
Technology shapes how communities connect, govern, learn, and care for one another. When digital systems don't reflect Indigenous realities, inequities grow. When they are designed with Nations, they can support resilience, culture, and opportunity.
