Labour Market Studies

Our labour market studies uncover opportunities and barriers for increasing the representation of Indigenous Peoples working in technology.

Supporting Indigenous Leadership in Technology in BC

As BC’s digital economy grows, there is a need for research that reflects the realities, strengths, and priorities of Indigenous communities. This labour market study was developed to help fill that gap. It supports Indigenous Peoples in understanding and shaping technology opportunities across the province.

A Labour Market Study Led by Indigenous Voices

In 2022, we released the first provincial labour market study on Indigenous leadership in technology. It examines the experiences of Indigenous Peoples working in tech-related roles in BC, alongside perspectives from industry and partner organizations.

The study was guided by Indigenous knowledge, values, and ways of being. It centres lived experience, community insight, and the stories shared by participants, with the aim of supporting informed leadership and decision-making.

Participants included:

  • First Nations leadership across BC
  • Indigenous Peoples in BC, including youth and Elders
  • Partners from education, technology, recruitment, and research sectors
